Privacy

This site (wiseold.dj) is operated by Rushcroft Investments Ltd (“we”, “us”). This page explains what happens when you visit.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages are read. It is privacy-oriented: we do not use it for advertising, and it does not use cookies for visitor tracking in the way many ad analytics tools do.

Cloudflare may process information such as page URL, referrer, browser type, device type, and a coarse location derived from IP. We use this only to improve the site.

Legal basis (UK GDPR): legitimate interests in running and improving a small public website.

Theme preference

If you change light/dark mode, your choice is stored in local storage on your device (wiseold-theme). We do not send that to our servers.

Fonts

We load typefaces from Google Fonts (Google may receive your IP address when your browser requests the font files). You can block this with browser extensions or strict tracking protection if you prefer.

Pages may link to YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. Those services have their own privacy policies; we do not control what they collect when you follow a link.

Embedded video

Some recipe pages offer an optional YouTube player. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you click “Load video”. Until then, we only show a still image from our own site (the recipe photo).

If you choose to load the player, the embed uses YouTube’s youtube-nocookie.com domain, but Google may still set cookies or collect usage data under YouTube’s privacy policy. You can always use the “Open on YouTube” link instead and stay on their site only if you prefer.

Recipe ratings

Some recipe pages may show a first-party star rating widget hosted on our own AWS backend. This is not loaded from ad-tech providers and does not set tracking cookies.

When you submit a rating, we store:

  • recipe slug
  • star value (1 to 5) in aggregate form
  • a salted hash derived from your IP for short-term abuse protection (not a stored raw IP)

The hashed abuse-protection record expires automatically (TTL). We use this only to prevent spam and repeated automated voting.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or EEA, you may have rights to access, correct, or object to processing of personal data we hold about you. We collect very little directly.

To exercise your rights, contact us via the social channels listed on the home page (we will respond as soon as we reasonably can).

We may update this page occasionally. The current version is always published here.
